The Hucks Starter was designed by Captain Hucks during the early part of WW1. Sadly he died the day before the armistice was signed.

This example was built by Skysport engineering for HAC.

It consists of a Model T ford Right hand drive and the engine is of the 1919 era and is just under 3 litres but gives out 20 hp.

It is used to start HAC Nimrod via the shaft on top that connects to the claw on the spinner.

It is non road worthy but can be put on a trailer and pulled to site if required.

It can be seen in operation at most of the Duxford based airshows when the Nimrod is flying.

The Hucks Starter is on permanent display in Hangar 4 at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.
